Wednesday Inspiration: Preston Bailey Canopy

In searching for Thanksgiving decorating ideas this weekend, I came across this photo of a fabulous canopy created by Preston Bailey.

Whenever I entertain at my home, I love transforming my dining room into an entirely different looking space...this picture really reminded me of this concept. How will you wow your guests this holiday season?

San Ysidro Ranch Wedding

I just received an email from Jennifer S. Rau letting me know that the pictures from our client's mid November wedding at the San Ysidro Ranch were up on her blog.

Here's are a few of the stunning images Jen captured at of this incredible couple's intimate wedding.

Venue and catering, San Ysidro Ranch
Photography, Jennifer S. Rau
Dress, Mon Amie

This couple had initially planned to elope so that they could marry on their 11th dating anniversary...but after careful consideration, they decided to hold an intimate and meaningful wedding for 30 of their closest of close family and friends. With this decision and less than a month before their big day, this fabulous couple hired me to plan everything from start to finish.

Their complete confidence and trust in my judgement made planning their whirlwind wedding a totally breeze.

I wish this amazing couple a lifetime of continued joy and happiness together.

Friday Flowers: Easy, Affordable Thanksgiving Decor

Thanksgiving is a day of food, celebration, good company and reflection. I've never been big on the actual Thanksgiving feast, but I've always loved spending the day with my little family (little because I'm an only child).

I know that your family might drive you crazy, but you love them and want to spend as much time with them as possible. With this in mind, I found a few quick, easy and affordable thanksgiving centerpiece ideas to get your Turkey Day creative juices flowing.

Wednesday Inspiration: JLo Inspired Wedding Cake Design

On Monday I posted a picture of JLo's Birthday cake, created by Sylvia Weinstock.

As I'd mentioned I was (literally) drawing inspiration from her cake for a wedding cake that I was designing for one of my January brides.

Though I studied drawing techniques when I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I've always been super shy about sharing my sketches. I guess I just worried that people wouldn't understand my perspective.

Anyway, since you are all so fabulous and supportive, I've decided to finally share one of my designs with you. Here is my first personally sketched design ever posted to my blog:

My rendition is a bit smaller and a bit more traditional than the JLo original, but overall I feel it still captures the same sense of drama.

Unlike the details of the original, my client's cake will be created using lavender colored fondant, silver piping/swagging and will feature fresh hydrangeas, spray roses and sweet peas on the upper tiers.

What do you think? Happy hump day!

JLo's Birthday Cake

Last week I had the great pleasure and fortune of attending a presentation given by the fabulous Ms. Sylvia Weinstock. As you all know I'm a huge fan of her work (she created my wedding cake). She showed slides of a few of her personal favorite and most talked about creations...one of which was a picture of MY WEDDING CAKE! OMG! Hello! I was totally blushing : )

Anyway, another one of Sylvia's favorite creations was this birthday cake that she and her team created for JLo.Don't you just love the height, detail and drama? I'm definitely going to borrow design element from this cake for the wedding cake of one of my January 2010 clients. Love it!
