Affordable Champagne Picks for New Years

In blogging 101, they say to never apologize for not blogging....but I really am sorry for not blogging.

I'd love to use the excuse that I was busy because of the holidays, but my family is tiny and really doesn't require much of me (awesome, right?). I've been away meeting new and exciting vendors and clients for next year, planning fabulous last minute weddings and making plans for the future.
Personally, 2009 was a rough year, and I know it was rough for a lot of you as well. But as they say on New Year's, out with the old and in with the new. We've moved! Please pop over to Ariel Yve Design and finish reading this post!

Wednesday Inspiration: Hollywood Glamour

Black and white have been at the forefront of event design for the past couple of years . If Vera Wang's Fall 2010 collection is any indication of future trends, it look like this dynamic shade combo is here to stay.

To keep my designs relevant now, and long into the future...I'm constantly referring to classic icons and motifs from the past.

Venue Spotlight: The Vibiana

There are so many hotels around the world that I absolutely love, but hotels ballrooms aren't always the best fit for every event.
Today I wanted to highlight one of my favorite off site event venues in the LA area....The Vibiana. The Vibiana is a raw architectural masterpiece, that lends itself to pretty much any type of grand occasion.
This former nineteenth century Cathedral has played host to numerous Hollywood weddings, society events and extraordinary corporate galas. We've moved! Please visit us at: Ariel Yve Design to finish reading this post.

Wednesday Inspiration: JLo Inspired Wedding Cake Design

On Monday I posted a picture of JLo's Birthday cake, created by Sylvia Weinstock.

As I'd mentioned I was (literally) drawing inspiration from her cake for a wedding cake that I was designing for one of my January brides.

Though I studied drawing techniques when I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I've always been super shy about sharing my sketches. I guess I just worried that people wouldn't understand my perspective. We've moved! Please finish reading this post at: Ariel Yve Design

JLo's Birthday Cake

Last week I had the great pleasure and fortune of attending a presentation given by the fabulous Ms. Sylvia Weinstock. As you all know I'm a huge fan of her work (she created my wedding cake). She showed slides of a few of her personal favorite and most talked about creations...one of which was a picture of MY WEDDING CAKE! OMG! Hello! I was totally blushing : )

Wednesday Inspiration: San Ysidro Wedding

The past few days have been beyond busy. While in Indianapolis, my emails, client requests and vendor questions piled up mile high. My apologies, for not posting sooner.

Anyway, this week's inspiration board is a bit of a sneak peak of a wedding that I'm coordinating this weekend at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, CA (Yay!).

The bride hired me less than a month before her big day to plan everything from start to finish. The colors we're using are aqua/sage, cream and lavender, and the theme is rustic, romantic glam.

Wednesday Inspiration: Girly Goth

Halloween is admittedly my least favorite holiday of the year. Sure all of the candy and dressing up are fun, but I just can't get past the straight up fugliness of the holiday's theme colors. Orange and black...seriously? Can you say yuck with a capital "Y"??!!!

Anyway, I know a lot of my blog readers just LOVE Halloween, so I didn't want to ignore your excitement all together.

Wednesday Inspiration: Summer Cottage on the Cape

Rain, rain go away...come again another day.
California has been too dry for too long and I'm glad that it's finally raining, but my holy moly...do we have to make up for it all at once?

Anyway, between taking care of all of my vendor phone calls, client proposals, timeline revisions, rental orders, and so on today, I couldn't help but let my mind wonder off to my favorite fantasy summer spot. A quaint little rose covered cottage on the Cape.

One of my favorite summers ever was spent exploring New England with my mom (Martha's Vineyard to be exact). I just fell in love with regions charming shabby chic vibe.

The grand Georgian style bed and breakfast the we stayed at, was brimming with gorgeous fruitwood furniture, needle point rugs, whitewashed iron chandeliers and all sorts of fascinating colored glassware. Plus as a sugar obsessed 10 year old, I LOVED the fact that they served homemade chocolate chip cookies with fresh squeezed lemonade every afternoon : ) The lifestyle that the innkeepers shared with us was so delightfully laid back and welcoming.

This weeks inspiration board is inspired by that magical summer, over 16 years ago.

Inspiration Board created by: Ariel Yve, Legendary Wedding Planner ; )

Where does your imagination go to escape the rain?

My Heaven On Earth

On the eve of my 26th birthday (now 1am the morning of), I lay awake thinking about how yet another year has passed me by. How every moment of my life seems to escape me faster than the last. How I have experienced so much in such a short period of time and how I still have so much to learn and achieve.

Spring Flowers

In honor of the recent Spring Equinox, I wanted to posting a few of my favorite spring inspired bouquets. Though many of these blooms can be found year round, it is the whimsy and joie de vive with which these floral combinations are arranged, that inspire dreams of sunkissed afternoons.

Simple elegance, found in a casual hand tied cascade of white clematis blooms and vines. (Image from Martha Stewart Weddings)

A cheerful domed bouquet featuring at least two types of yellow tea roses, yellow spray roses and peach garden roses. (Image from Martha Stewart Weddings)

A luxuriously lush nosegay featuring an assortment of vibrantly hued fringe and parrot tulips. (Image from Martha Stewart Weddings)

This delightfully soft and feminine cascading bouquet is composed of pink ranunculus, pink spray roses, white lily of the valley and white nerines. (Image from InStyle Weddings, Spring 2008)

With this fabulously fluffy bouquet of lilac, purple sweet peas and purple lisianthus it's easy to see why plum is one of the "it" colors of 2009. (Image from Martha Stewart Weddings)

Affordable Couture Wedding Gowns

After my appearance on WE TVs "Platinum Weddings," I've gained tremendous national attention.

Brides from all over the country email me daily, asking questions as unique and diversified as they are...but one consistent question that I get is "where did you find that gown?" Unfortunately, the gown that I wore is no longer being produced, but in an attempt to help more feature brides find their perfect dress, I thought that I'd pass along the info on the company that helped me find my perfect gown. Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 1

Tonight is an exciting night for me. I am going to be attending the YWD Magazine launch party for the release of their Spring '09 issue. In honor of my article in the new issue on "Estate Weddings" (pages 197-199), I thought that I would write a series of posts, highlighting my favorite event/wedding estates, palaces and off-site venues located all over the world. We've moved! Please find the rest of this post at: Ariel Yve Design

Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 2

This venue is a castle located right here in the US...New York to be exact. Numerous celebrities, aristocrats and socialites have married within the castle's walls. We've moved! Please find the rest of this post at: Ariel Yve Design

Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 3

Here are images from one of the grandest venues in the world. This location is in San Francisco, can gracefully accommodate 120-400+ guests and features a massive 23 karat gold encrusted dome. We've moved! Please find the rest of this post at: Ariel Yve Design

Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 4

Another one of my favorite San Francisco Off-site venues. This venue is managed by the city, so the rental is quite reasonable. We've moved! Please find the rest of this post at: Ariel Yve Design Note, even though this massive space is covered, this is al fresco, so it should only be considered for events to be held during the summer months if you don't want to see heaters in your pictures (a pet peeve of mine).

Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 5

Here are a few images of a greatly underutilized venue located right here in Los Angeles. The rental is really affordable and the architecture is amazing. We've moved! Please find the rest of this post at Ariel Yve Design

Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 6

This is a stunning Royal Palace located just outside of London. During a European holiday with my husband Joey (boyfriend at the time), I visited this palace. The state apartments and gardens where absolutely stunning. So much so that Joey came really close to proposing to me on the spot. Anyway, during our exploration of the palace, We'd discovered that the grounds where available "for hire" as the Brits say. From that moment on, We couldn't get this location out of our heads. Favorite Wedding Estates, Palaces and Off Site Venues: Part 7

Last but far from least is in my opinion the most stunning palace I have ever seen. This palatial estate is located just outside of Paris and has played host to some of the worlds most illustrious soirees. Every time, I see this venue, I literally get choked up because the beauty of the architecture is so great. Hey what can I say, I'm a Taurus...I strongly identify with beauty and grandeur.

Last Minute Holiday Wedding

I just received an email from Michael and Anna Costa, with a link to view their work from the wedding of one of my sweetest couples, June and Jim.

In the first week of December '08, I received a phone call from a concerned bride who had a budget of $5,500 and wanted to get married on 12/30/08(which at the time, was only three weeks away). Though the bride and groom had been soul mates for nearly 8 years, and engaged for 6 of the 8 years, life got in the way a number of times, delaying June and Jim from making their love official. Just out of curiosity, I asked the bride why she was suddenly in such a rush. She replied "On December 30th, Jim is going to be turning 40. Being the romantic that he is, his only birthday wish is to get married." We've moved! Please find the rest of this post at: Ariel Yve Design

2009 Trends

I'm constantly asked about past, present and future trends in weddings, so I thought that that I'd take a moment to share what we'll be seeing in 2009.

The Setting:

With budgets tightening, it is projected that nearly 70% of brides will opt to have a destination wedding (non-hometown) in attempt to cut back on the guest list.

The Day-
Friday night. Most locations offer lower food and beverage for events not held on Saturdays. In Los Angeles, Fridays are typically the best value. In Santa Barbara, Sundays reign supreme in terms of cost savings. We've moved! Please find the rest of this post; Ariel Yve Design

Tip of the Week - The Signature Drink

With the growing popularity of the "signature drink," I am always looking for new and fun ways to help my clients create their own custom drinks.

I've had couple's serve drinks local to their wedding's region. I have couples serve their own personal favorites....and of course, I've had lots of couples serve drinks that coordinate with their wedding's color scheme. These are are fantastic methods of creating custom drinks, but they've all been done.

Since brides are becoming even more trend conscious, I am getting loads of requests from couples wanting new ideas for taking their signature drink(s) to the next level...so here are a few new ideas.
