Friday Flowers: Billy Balls

Happy Friday everyone!

Today's bouquet feature is all about Billy Balls.  You're probably asking what Billy Balls are.  Get your mind out of the gutter...they're nothing obscene or pornographic.

They are these darling little round pom-pom-like yellow blooms.

Wednesday Inspiration: Cheerful Tablescape

I was doing a lot of research for one of my client's weddings this afternoon and came across these images from a delightfully cheery tablescape that was featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs.

Color Trends: Navy, the New Black

I am constantly asked what the current trends are in wedding design and quite frankly, I can almost never give a complete answer.

The reason is primarily because I rarely design weddings to reflect current trends.  One of Ariel Yve Design's "Core Values" is to provide our clients with the best possible value.  In that value, I believe that it's important to design every wedding that we do to have a certain level of timeless elegance (we always aim for our clients' event designs to be relevant 30, 50, 100 years down the road).

Wednesday Inspiration: Purple Colin Cowie Cake

Many months ago, I blogged about a gorgeous purple wedding that was designed by my industry friend, Colin Cowie.

I couldn't find pictures of the cake anywhere, but was certain I'd have the opportunity to share them with you in the future.  As luck has it, I found this picture last week via the Facebook page of my friend, Jennifer Medley Gillespie (calligrapher extraordinaire).

Here's a picture of the purple wedding cake as well as a few inspirational decor shots.

Friday Flowers: Heirloom Details

Happy Friday everyone!  Can you believe how quickly this week has flown by?

I wanted to share this bouquet that I'd created for Kathy, one of my fabulous Texas brides.  My clients from the Lone Star State are always so nice.  There must be something in the water.

Anyway, Kathy wanted a whimsical bridal bouquet of pink callas, stephanotis, white and roses.

Ariel's Homemade Dijon Shallot Vinaigrette Recipe

One of my favorite clients asked me to share my recipe for the Dijon Shallot Vinaigrette that I'd featured in yesterday's post.

The junk that one buys in the store is full of chemicals, sugar, preservatives and other associated nastiness, so I'm happy to share my healthier, tastier option with you.

My Quickie 4th of July Dinner Party

This past Sunday, I'd planned to work on renovation projects at my house, followed by a quiet evening at home with my hubby.

To my surprise and delight, my family's plans changed mid day on the 4th, and they were able to spend the evening at my house.  The only problem...my house was a complete construction zone.  With only 5 hours until everyone arrived, we had to jump into action...no time to think.  To avoid the shabby state of our home (drywall debris and exposed wiring), we quickly set up our summer living room rug and dining room table on our back patio.  I created a centerpiece using flowers from our garden, paired with a few items from my "chachkie" collection.  The table was set using my heirloom blue English china and stemware that we'd received as wedding gifts.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th everyone!

My little town started the festivities a little early, by holding their annual Independence Day Parade yesterday.  Tonight...FIREWORKS!  I absolutely adore watching fireworks any chance I get...and being able to watch them from my backyard in my rose garden is twice as nice.

With the 4th of July right around the corner, I can't help but think bright, summery thoughts.  That's way today's Friday Flower segment features fresh and easy calla lily bouquets that I'd created for the summer wedding of a charming Canadian couple named Mira and Jeff.
