Weekend Musings: Vishen Lakhiani
Ahhh, Sunday is here. The weekend is coming to an end. I hope that you're ready for next week to begin.
Today's post isn't about my typical frou-frou girly posts. It is a post about the other side of my personality....a post about business, gratitude, and looking toward the future.
The inspiration for this post came from one of my Facebook friends, Vishen Lakhaini, who just shared these incredible video clips from one of his recent presentations.
This guy is completely charismatic and passionate, yet grounded. I was so impressed by his presentation at an event that I attended last year in Vegas, that he has gained a permanent position on my Dream 100 List...a list of my top 100 dream clients.
Whether or not you own your own company, you will gain some sort of extraordinary tidbit to incorporate into your life from the following clips.

Wednesday Inspiration: Ravishingly Ruched
Ruffles and feather's and sequins, oh my!
This week's blog post takes layering of colors and textures to new heights. To create drama and interest for your event, you'll think about colors...but textural contrast is equally important.
Here's an example of how to incorporate texture into a focused color scheme (pairing simple clean lines with ravishingly ruched textures): We've moved! Please savor the rest of this post at: Ariel Yve Design

Wednesday Inspiration: JLo Inspired Wedding Cake Design
On Monday I posted a picture of JLo's Birthday cake, created by Sylvia Weinstock.
As I'd mentioned I was (literally) drawing inspiration from her cake for a wedding cake that I was designing for one of my January brides.
Though I studied drawing techniques when I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I've always been super shy about sharing my sketches. I guess I just worried that people wouldn't understand my perspective. We've moved! Please finish reading this post at: Ariel Yve Design

Wednesday Inspiration: San Ysidro Wedding
The past few days have been beyond busy. While in Indianapolis, my emails, client requests and vendor questions piled up mile high. My apologies, for not posting sooner.
Anyway, this week's inspiration board is a bit of a sneak peak of a wedding that I'm coordinating this weekend at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, CA (Yay!).
The bride hired me less than a month before her big day to plan everything from start to finish. The colors we're using are aqua/sage, cream and lavender, and the theme is rustic, romantic glam.

Wednesday Inspiration: Summer Cottage on the Cape
Rain, rain go away...come again another day.
California has been too dry for too long and I'm glad that it's finally raining, but my holy moly...do we have to make up for it all at once?
Anyway, between taking care of all of my vendor phone calls, client proposals, timeline revisions, rental orders, and so on today, I couldn't help but let my mind wonder off to my favorite fantasy summer spot. A quaint little rose covered cottage on the Cape.
One of my favorite summers ever was spent exploring New England with my mom (Martha's Vineyard to be exact). I just fell in love with regions charming shabby chic vibe.
The grand Georgian style bed and breakfast the we stayed at, was brimming with gorgeous fruitwood furniture, needle point rugs, whitewashed iron chandeliers and all sorts of fascinating colored glassware. Plus as a sugar obsessed 10 year old, I LOVED the fact that they served homemade chocolate chip cookies with fresh squeezed lemonade every afternoon : ) The lifestyle that the innkeepers shared with us was so delightfully laid back and welcoming.
This weeks inspiration board is inspired by that magical summer, over 16 years ago.

Friday Flowers: Peonies
Today's floral inspiration comes from this gorgeous white peony bouquet that I'd created for a gorgeous bride named Lindsay. Lindsay's wedding took place in Palm Springs this past June. Under normal conditions peonies will last all day out of water, but with the 103 degree weather that weekend, I used a water soaked floral foam bouquet holder, just to be on the extra safe side. Wednesday Inspiration: Monarch Butterflies
Yesterday was the first official day of Autumn. To celebrate, I've create an inspiration board based on one of natures most aptly dressed creatures.
The Monarch Butterfly.
Monarchs are in the middle their fall migration from all over the US to their wintering home in central Mexico...filling up the skies with fabulous fluttering shades of orange, rust, gold, brown and black.
